Wright “B” Flyer over Ft. Sam Houston
Wright “B” Flyer Inc. volunteer pilots Rich Stepler and Don Stroud performed a demonstration flight of their “Brown Bird” over Ft. Sam Houston’s MacArthur Parade Ground during the Centennial of Military Aviation event on March 2, 2010. Designed to look like a Wright “B” Flyer that was made of wood, cloth, cables and a Ford Model A engine, the Wright “B” Modified Flyer (seen) is metal framed with a modern Lycoming turbocharged engine and essential instrumentation and communication gear for regular test flights.
