Houston Airport IAH re-checking bags for connecting flights?
Hello there!, I’m traveling from Mexico to Newark, NJ, so I have to make a connection in Houston IAH. I’m wondering if I have to re-check my bags in Houston and, if so, do I have to pay again for my baggage even though I’m permitted to check one piece for free. I’m flying with Continental (both). Do you know if it’s difficult to navigate in this airport? I really hate airports because last time I missed my flight in Frankfurt, Germany since it’s very difficult to go between terminals… so I had to stay there one extra day. Thanks in advance!
It should be very similar to your arrival in the USA from Frankfurt, though you may not have had a connecting flight on that trip.
Passengers on international flights usually go through passport control and Customs at their first arrival airport in the USA. Baggage claim is just after passport control. Collect your luggage and take it to the Customs checkpoint - the Officer will normally take your stamped Customs form and wave you through. Then take your luggage to Interline Baggage and give it back to the airline for transfer to your connecting flight. You do not have to pay the baggage fee again.
You only have to "check-in" again if you are switching to a different airline that does > not < have an interline baggage agreement with your first airline. That’s rare and doesn’t apply at all in this case because it’s all on CO.
IAH is easy to navigate. There is an underground train/shuttle between terminals and also a shuttle bus.

This was a flight out of DFW into Houston. Weather was terrible. Flights stacked up on the tarmac waiting to leave forever. Crosswind on the runway near blew me off.. Hope you like. If so rate and subscribe.
TIME what makes us tick? is it our inner clock, or are we part of a gigantic clockwork regulating our daily moves? Observed on a human scale, the very basic rhythm of every day is sunset and sunrise, we go in to bed and out of bed. A rhythm, so elementary and universal and at the same time so intimate.

Landing in Houston IAH on United Express E-170 operated by Shuttle America from Chicago. Not the greatest quality; mostly cause it’s a night landing, but here it is anyway
